The short version
We only ask for what we need to book and confirm your appointment. We use it to look after you, we never sell it, and you can ask us to see, correct or delete it at any time.
What we collect
When you request an appointment, we collect your name, phone number, your email address if you choose to give it, the type of visit and the time you picked. When you send a message through the contact page, we collect your name, email, phone number if given, and your message. We also keep a record of each change to a booking, such as when it was confirmed or moved, and the messages we sent you about it.
How we use it
We use this information to review and confirm your appointment, to send you confirmations and changes by text and email, to prepare for your visit, and to reply to your questions. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Texts and emails
After you book, we send messages about that appointment only: that we received it, that it is confirmed, or that the time changed. You can reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Standard message and data rates may apply.
Services that help us run the site
We use a small number of trusted providers to run this website: Vercel (website hosting), Turso (secure appointment database), Cloudflare (spam protection on our forms), Google (email and the map on our pages) and Twilio (appointment texts). They process information only to provide these services to us. Some of them store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
Keeping it safe
Information is sent over an encrypted connection and stored in a protected database. Only our staff can see appointment details, through a password-protected dashboard. Messages to staff phones contain a link rather than your details.
How long we keep it
We keep appointment records for as long as we need them to provide care and to meet our professional record-keeping obligations. Records of the texts and emails we sent are deleted after 180 days. Clinical records from your eye exam are kept at the practice, not on this website.
Your choices
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete website records we no longer need. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within 30 days.
Google Maps
The maps on this site are embedded from Google. Loading a map connects your browser to Google, which may collect technical information and use cookies under Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you: it records the page, the referring site, and your general region and device type. The spam check on our forms may set a cookie needed for it to work. Staff who sign in to the dashboard receive a secure sign-in cookie.
